Heidi Heikkilä – Omnichannel Category Development Lead
Heidi, a true cosmetic jar freak, is inspired by good brand stories and great experiences
Heidi Heikkilä, responsible for the development of Stockmann’s cosmetics offering, throws herself into the world of trends at work. In her free time, she dips her toes in a footbath of herbs picked from her cottage garden.

What do you do at Stockmann and how did you end up working here?
My job involves developing our cosmetics offering both in department stores and online. My role is to strengthen the growth, profitability and efficiency of our cosmetics category, and improve customer experience and engagement. I have 15 years of experience in the cosmetics field, specifically in importing, and previously worked in sourcing at Stockmann. I love developing our assortment, renovating our facilities and being involved in creating inspiring customer experiences.
What is the best thing about your job?
I’m a cosmetic jar freak! I’m also excited by new products, brands and interesting stories behind them. In my role, I’m the first to hear about new innovations in cosmetics. Now, for example, I’m fascinated by CurrentBody Skin’s LED masks, which can help reduce the signs of ageing and make your skin glow.
Share one surprising thing your colleagues don’t know about you.
I spend my free time at my cottage by the lake near Tammisaari. Kids are free to run around the garden and join in all our activities. I organise spa days for the women in the family; we try out lovely products and use ingredients from our own garden. I throw fresh herbs like lavender and chamomile into the footbath, along with refreshing yarrow to complement other familiar herbs.
Your most memorable moment at Stockmann?
Last year, I was selected to join the jury of the European Natural Beauty Awards. I got to present the New Brand of the Year award at the gala ceremony in Stockholm. In the same competition, Stockmann won the Department Store of the Year award for our stunning range of natural cosmetics. In fact, Finland is one of the top countries for natural cosmetics and we have many incredible Finnish brands such as Djusie, Hetkinen, Laponie, Murumuru and Flow Cosmetics.
What is the best way to wow customers?
Both online and in the department store, in-store experience and customer experience are extremely important when it comes to cosmetics. That’s why we constantly think about and work with our suppliers and brands to improve the displays, attractiveness and ambience in our spaces. We follow the latest trends and want to stand out with an inspiring and diverse range. Our customer service is truly professional. A tip: keep our make-up service in mind!
