What do you do at Stockmann and how did you end up working here?

My role deals broadly with structuring and analyzing people data. We want to find ways of improving the experience of our Team Members and the outcomes of our business processes, both of which impact the experience of our customers. Stockmann has recently undergone a digital transformation that has brought all our employment data into one centralized system. This allows us to unify our ways of working and ensures that the data we collect is more reliable and we can make smart decisions based on it. Prior to joining Stockmann earlier this year, I spent over a decade researching topics in the areas of HR and Leadership in different universities.

What is the best thing about your job?

Learning and people! I’m a very data-driven person. Working with all the new streams of data to solve daily challenges, come up with alternative solutions, and develop metrics and measures is very rewarding in its own right. I see the opportunities to learn every day and that really motivates me. At the same time, all this is only possible working in an environment where experimentation is encouraged, and teamwork is at the core. From day one, I have felt warmly welcomed by our People and Culture team.

Share one surprising thing your colleagues don’t know about you.

I am a huge fan of the NBA, and specifically the Boston Celtics. I became a fan while studying in Boston and had the privilege of watching them play live when they won a championship in 2008. Five or six years ago, I would often stay up late to watch important rivalry games. Now, I can no longer stay up so late even if I wanted to, but I still sneak in at least the highlights during breakfast and lunch while the season is on. This year, I was very happy as the Celtics became champions again, 16 years since their last title!

The most memorable moment at Stockmann?

My first day at work was a memorable one. Entering the Department Store, where I have been a customer for 15 years, through the employee entrance and opening doors on Stockmann’s floors that I had never noticed before, was a cool and interesting experience. It was also great to meet all my new colleagues and visit some parts of the building with a very long history.

What is the best way to wow customers?

I believe that our Team Members are true experts in wowing customers. One of the most important aspects of my role, as I see it, is using data to help ensure that our Team Members have the ability, motivation, opportunity, and well-being to do what they know best. Whether it is through analyzing and acting upon the results of an engagement survey or tracking our employee experience KPIs, by motivating and empowering Stockmann’s professionals to feel and be at their best is how we wow customers.
